Governance

Landau Forte Charitable Trust has a clear governance structure in place overseen by a Board of Trustees. Each Academy has its own Education Advisory Committee (see below) with the authority to create additional subcommittees for the discharge of their responsibilities.

The membership of the Board of Trustees and Education Advisory Committees is clearly defined in the Trust’s Articles of Association, which are publicly available on the Trust’s website.

Do you want to help to shape the future of our Academy?

We are looking for experienced individuals to volunteer their time, expertise and enthusiasm to support our academies as members of our Education Advisory Committee. Expressions of interest are welcomed and should be directed to [email protected]

Education Advisory Committee

Chair - Mr Simon Rowley

Chair

Hello, I am Simon Rowley. I have lived with my family in the Amington area for the last 23 years and all my 3 children have been through one or more of the Landau Forte schools in Tamworth. I have been supporting as a Governor since Amington school changed from Woodhouse to the current Academy and I support the other LF schools in Tamworth also. Professionally, I have worked for the Toyota car company for the past 28 years covering a number of roles and currently I am part of their European Operations Management Development team

Mrs Catherine Day

Governor

My name is Catherine Day and I became a sixth form governor in 2018. I have a degree from Oxford University and have taught in secondary schools in Southern Africa and the U.K since 1994.  I also have an MA in Education and have worked in Higher Education managing the validation of degree level qualifications. I am keen to see the students of Tamworth have the very best opportunities and highest quality of post sixteen education.

Mrs Amelia Eggleston

Governor

Mrs Karen Wicks

Governor

My name is Karen Wicks and I am a parent governor for Landau Forte QEMS and Sixth Form. I have two daughters who attend the school at present in Year 9 and 11 and we live in Tamworth. I am a Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo with 22 years of experience in a range of school settings and I am passionate about inclusion. I am keen to volunteer my experience to the governance of Landau Forte QEMS and Sixth Form to contribute to school improvement and secure outstanding outcomes and experiences for all students at the academy.

Mr David Brown

Governor

“My links to QEMS go back to when I was a student at the school and currently my own children are educated there.
I have been a secondary school teacher since 2001 and I am currently a faculty leader at a local school.”

Mrs Sarah Wilson

Governor

I live in Tamworth with my husband, three children and loveable dog Geoffrey!

I have worked in the Automotive industry all of my career, despite my qualifications being in Pure Mathematics and Literature, and have been at Jaguar Land Rover for 10 years. As a Programme Manager, I am responsible for the delivery of new car lines from design stage through to production. It is an exceptionally varied role, and each day brings new challenges.

Whilst living in Slovakia, I was a Parent Governor and UK Ambassador for the British International School of Bratislava. I hope that the skills and awareness developed here will aid the success of my role in supporting the Governing body here at Landau.

Mrs Karen Tromans

Governor

I am a Mum of two children. My daughter is currently a student at Landau Forte Academy and my son will be starting next September. I was appointed Parent Governor in April 2022, however this is not my first governing role.

I have been a Parent Governor at my children's primary school since February 2018 and I have learnt a great deal about the importance of effective governance to secure the best future for our children and young people. I am a Counsellor for Childline, which is a challenging but hugely rewarding job. I hope the skills and knowledge I’ve gained from this role will prove beneficial to the school, it’s pupils and the governing team.

Miss Kerri Hammond

Governor

This is my First appointment as a school governor, and very much looking forward to the new challenge.

I am committed to supporting the schools leadership & driving the strategic vision forward.

During my career I have pursued further qualifications in business management. I have 3 Children all at different education levels.

Miss Yasmin Johal

Governor

Yasmin has been a school governor of Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Sixth Form since February 2021. She has a long history with the school, having been a student from 2004 to 2009, and her three sisters also attended the school from 2007 to 2021. Given her deep rooted connection with the school for 17 years, she has a strong passion to give back and help the next generation of students in having the same opportunities that she did.

Outside her role as a governor, she is a FinTech Lawyer at CMS where she advises financial services firms, market participants and investors on a range of complex UK and EU regulatory issues. Prior to her legal career, she worked within investment banking, corporate banking, private banking and fiduciary management teams across both the UK and US financial markets.

Yasmin also regularly speaks at events and on podcasts that help promote the pipeline of women into tech related careers, and was recently recognised as WeAreTechWomen’s Top 100 Women in Technology and was a #TechWomen100 2020 Award Winner.
